As 2022 comes to a close, I like to reflect on the year. Sarah, Caitlyn, and I really kept ourselves busy now that we could “roam about the country” and had plenty of things we wanted to get done. We spent quite a bit of time enjoying the outdoors and even had a chance to do some traveling. Here’s some of the fun activities we did.
Table of Contents
Fort Wayne
Sarah and Caitlyn went to Fort Wayne, IN and met Grandma to have a girls weekend. They went to the local zoo, multiple splash pads, and met up with friends every day.
Adult and Me Horse Around Camp
Sarah and Cailtyn went to an Adult and Me Horse Around camp (Girl Scouts) at a local camp. Caitlyn got to practice archery for the first time and did a great job. She even hit the target on her third shot! They both learned about and ride horses and also did tie dye and went swimming. They both had a great time and look forward to going again next year.
Girl Scouts Family Camp
She had her first Girl Scout’s family tent camping event where we had an overnight camp with a bunch of activities along Lake Zumbra. The troop learned some hiking skills, fire safety, how to start a fire, and got to decorate headbands. The girls (and parents) had a lot of fun bonding. This will be an annual event for our troop!
J.E.E.F. Reunion Campout
As always, we all went to Michigan to partake in the annual J.E.E.F. reunion campout where we visit Sarah’s side of the family, tent camping most of the time. It’s always great to be able to make the long trip and see so many family and friends all at once.
Art Explosion Camp
Caitlyn went on her first solo overnight Girl Scout camp adventure in August. She attended the Art Explosion camp and learned about different styles of art. She got to sleep in a Yurt for the first time, and made some new friends. We were nervous, but she was not, and she had a blast. She is already looking forward to going to camp next summer.
Guy Trips
I was able to spend some time with the guys at the Klemme’s Cabin up in the Crivitz area, and some of us did a several night backpacking trip on the Superior Hiking Trail. Earlier in the year we also did an AirBnB along White Potato Lake Wisconsin and had fun exploring the waterfalls up north Wisconsin.
Miscellaneous
I spend a fair bit of my time in spring making a closet built-in for our master bedroom, which I made a few short videos (see playlist) on sections of that build:
Closing
It really felt great getting out and doing things again. We are very blessed and are thankful for everything we have and are able to do. We want to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
